Newborn sleep basics
Newborn sleep is not broken sleep, it is newborn sleep, and the difference matters because one implies something to fix. In the first weeks babies sleep in short stretches around the clock, without day and night, because that rhythm has not developed yet. They wake to feed often, including at night, and that is how it is supposed to work. Things slowly lengthen over the first months. Daylight in the morning and a quiet dim evening help that shift along, but they do not speed it up dramatically, and no technique does.
