Screens and small children
Guidance for the youngest children is consistently cautious, and the reason is not moral: very young children learn from interaction, and screen time displaces it. What matters as much as the amount is the shape. Watching together and talking about it is different from watching alone. A screen used to get through a supermarket trip is different from one running in the background all afternoon. The clearest evidence concerns screens close to bedtime and in the bedroom, and that is the easiest rule to keep.
